Bernstein: Symphony No. 2, "The Age of Anxiety", for piano and Orchestra
RELEASED 2002
"Jean Louis Steuerman is a deft piano soloist, and the orchestra again does itself proud under Mr. Judd's steady hand."
The New York Times
Leonard Bernstein's "The Age of Anxiety" is a captivating symphony that, much like the poem by W.H. Auden on which it's based, seeks to capture the restlessness and spiritual turmoil characteristic of the post-World War II era. The symphony, composed for orchestra and solo piano, is a complex tapestry of sound, blending elements of jazz, blues, and traditional symphonic music to convey a deeply evocative narrative of introspection, disquiet, and ultimately, hope. In this praised recording Steuerman is once again joined by conductor James Judd in collaboration with the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra.
Repertoire: Symphony No. 2, “The Age of Anxiety”; West Side Story (Symphonic Dances) & Candide Overture.
